The story of Stocked
An abundance of quality produce offered in an authentically warm and European atmosphere was the shared dream of friends Tess Steryos and Bill Tzimas.
Starting out on different paths – Tess in graphic design and Bill, a high-school teacher – each also nurtured an interest in food. That interest grew in parallel to Australia’s evolving obsession with food culture; a movement that created new demand for boutique, quality produce, and inspired both Tess and Bill to leave their chosen careers. Bill started a cheese shop at the Queen Victoria Market and it supplied cheese to Tess’s shop, Delicatess, at the Prahran Market. It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
In 2010, when a store in Hawksburn Village became available, they decided to have a go. No business plan, but a vision to take the market to the suburbs, supported by unique industry connections and knowledge. Stocked was born, and success came fast. In 2015 they opened Stocked Malvern; then in 2020, Stocked Hawthorn.
